If you glanced at the Who section on the front page you might already have some idea of who I am, but if your like most you were probably distracted by the pretty question mark icon next to the about link that lead you here. Now that you're here you might be wondering what this site is all about.
To sum it up in one sentence, this is where Sam Crockett (that's me) uploads what he's thinking, doing, reading, and occasionally something important or interesting.
If your one of those people that likes to read and know everything about anything then you can find more details about this fellow named Sam in the sections below (coming soon) or the sidebar on your right.
My passions are...
Web Development
My first experience with web development was in a basic level high school class that focused on HTML. At the time I found it extremely boring, and it probably didn't help that it was around the time that Digg launched, so instead of focusing on learning HTML tags, my attention was in keeping up with the latest tech news on Digg.
Freshman year of college I once again found myself sitting in an entry level web development class, only this time I had a passionate teacher who had a new way of teaching: a project based class. Within the first few weeks of class I grew bored with the basic level material, but unlike high school I didn't revert to browsing Digg (not to say I didn't still browse it on occasion).
Instead, I read everything I could find on topics ranging from HTML, CSS, usability, design, and a whole slew of other web development related subjects. Then, there came a point when I needed a place to call my own on the great network of computers we call the Internet, and so was born this site. Since then this site has become a place for me to experiment with new and exciting ideas I come across (or on occasion come up with all on my own).
Computers
Ever since I was a kid have been interested in anything about computers. I remember my family's first computer was a brandless beige box that ran Windows 95, and I thought it was the greatest thing in the world (cut me some slack here as I was five and had not yet discovered the world of Mac). I spent countless hours on that machine surfing the web with AOL 3.0 and playing Raptor: Call of Shadows.
Around the time I started high school I became interested in building my own computers, primarily for gaming. Since then I've built multiple machines for friends, family, and myself. Recently, I've gotten into building water cooling systems so that I can over clock my system's components. Check out pictures of my most recent build over at Flickr.
In more recent years my primary platform has become the Mac. My first Mac was an iMac G5 with Mac OS X Tiger. I only had that computer for a little over six months as sold it the moment I learned that Apple was switching to Intel processors. The summer of 07 was kind to me as I acquired my first Intel Mac: a Macbook Pro (2.4Ghz (Santa Rosa chipset), 2GB RAM, 256MB 8600M GT, and 7200RMP 160GB HD).
